Winds really died down here on Saturday, and power outages have stopped here, but right now there is a power problem at the Navy Stadium in Annapolis where the Caps and Maple Leafs are having a special “outdoors” game on the frozen over football field. Midway through the 3rd period, the strong lights failed, but power didn’t go out otherwise. Too dark to play, there is a delay right now. I don’t think it is weather related to all our recent windstorm, but you never know. The Washington DC/Baltimore area is still recovering from the high wind damage to many areas, downed trees and power lines, damaged houses and structures from flying debris, etc. Quite an experience! Peak wind gust I have heard so far was a 71 MPH PWG recorded Friday morning at Washington Dulles International Airport. There may have been higher gusts, probably from “unofficial” sources.
