  • People across the Pacific Northwest are beginning to get very worried. The spring of 2021 has been the driest on record since March 1 in many places. PDX has received only 2.01″ of rainfall as of May 14.  Normal […]

  • What happens when you combine an unstable airmass, a mountain range, and daytime heating? You get scattered afternoon/evening thunderstorms that bubble up along the Cascade crest! We saw a ton of those today and […]

  • Today is what we’ve been waiting for.  Warm, sunny, and light breezes.  This should be the norm for the next 3-4 days with each day getting a little warmer.  I love it.  Most of the leaves are now out full and jus […]

    • What is that in your picture, Kevin? I can’t make it out.

    • I explained in my post what the picture was of. It is my cocorahs rain gauge. Perhaps you are confused by the accompanying custom holder mount for the gauge to keep it free standing/upright. My friend Marty built that rigid tubular plastic structure for me to have continuously good exposure to the elements out in the open for accurate collection and to keep it securely upright.

Let me know if you have any further questions about what you are seeing. I attached what might be a better/clearer picture of the entire structure in a separate email to you. .

Thanks for asking. I get very few questions about any of my weather together posts.

      Have a great day!

      Kevin

  • Remember the “Blob?” That awful patch of sterile, warm water from late 2013-2015 and again in summer 2019? Well, now we have the opposite of the “Blob;” a swath of cooler-than-average water along the West Coast […]

  • After all the warm weather that we had in April, this cold weather is really annoying.  It certainly doesn’t feel like May.  This morning began with clear skies and sun, but once again the clouds have taken over a […]
