It felt like for a while earlier this month almost every single day was windy, but then it finally let up. Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the wind is coming back! Of course, the wind isn’t all that […]

Most of you know me as a weather enthusiast. But throughout my life, I’ve also had a keen fascination with astronomy. My grandpa first introduced me to the topic when I was about 4 or 5 years old. I learned t […]

Our weather has remained constant with very little changes expected in the near future. I guess that’s a good thing. Little by little, our snow cover is disappearing and we now have about 50%. Temperatures ar […]

Yesterday, my parents drove down all the way from Seattle to celebrate my 27th birthday with me in Portland. I knew that the Willamette was running high, so we decided to go visit Willamette Falls in Oregon City. […]

Thank you Holly! I’m glad to hear of the Willamette Falls Legacy project – the industrial use can be an eyesore (I personally think it’s interesting but I shudder to think of the impact on the environment, especially as a salmon fisherman!) but it’s good that they are bringing some awareness to the falls – they are really spectacular. Hopefully there can be some habitat restoration in the future there… a little would go a long way. One can always dream!

This has been a strange January. Our temperatures have been mild and most precipitation has been rain. Any snow that we have received has been light with little accumulation. In fact, most of our snow cover is […]

It isn’t really warm but still much above average for this date. After what the Farmers Almanac predicted, everyone was so sure that we were going to be snowed in this winter. It’s been anything but. We co […]

Our snow pack is now down to 2.5 inches and still melting. I can’t believe how warm our winter has been so far. Frankenmuth is having their winter festival with all the ice and snow carvings. This rain ce […]

Today will be the first that we will see temps above the freezing mark this week. I’m hoping that the ice on my deck melts enough where I can scoop it up with my snow shovel. We aren’t expecting any p […]

We are getting a few peeks of the sun this morning although the sky is mostly cloudy. Temperatures should be a little warmer, and if the sun would be out for a while, we could get rid of some of this ice. T […]

Yesterday started off with sun, but then the clouds rolled in by afternoon. We had a few light snow showers but no new snow accumulations. We have about 5 inches of snow cover right now, and temperatures wi […]

I think most of us weather geeks can agree that the winter of 2019-2020 has been extremely boring thus far. We haven’t had a single Pacific windstorm in the region, except for the “bomb cyclone” in Southern […]

Temperatures are currently below freezing in all locations. That combined with light snow accumulations from last night and wet roadways means we have a messy morning commute in store for us. While most major […]

Yesterday and today seem quite calm with temps hovering around the freezing mark. We are expected to reach 40° this afternoon, and I’m hoping that the ice on the deck melts enough that we can shovel it off. We […]
