  • Snow began in the early morning hours and is continuing to fall at this time.  We are under a winter weather advisory until 3 PM today.  I measured about 2.5 inches of new snow so far and our landscape is a […]

  • With our present snow cover down to about 50%, that will change by tomorrow.  There is another snow system that will bring 3-6 inches to our area.  This seems to be a pattern that we have been stuck in l […]

  • It’s no surprise that the groundhog saw his shadow today, but regardless, it’s a beautiful morning. I just wish it was warmer.  We are under the influence of another Polar Vortex and they are getting tiresome […]

  • Will our weather ever stabilize?  This swinging back and forth is getting annoying.  Yesterday’s warmup got rid of about half the snow cover.  Now, today, temps will be dropping all day and the frigid we […]

  • Our morning is starting out with partly cloudy skies and very strong winds.  Since the snow cover is very light, it is blowing over where we cleared yesterday.  Temperatures should reach the upper 30s today s […]

  • Those were the words of a local meteorologist in describing this storm.  One to two inches overnight and into Monday morning was the prediction, but it strengthened through the day and we received just over […]

  • The forecast called for 1-2 inches of snow overnight for us.  So far, we have 4 and it is still coming down.  It is light and fluffy, quite pretty actually.  How fast our weather can change.  Two days ago, fol […]

  • Our Sunday is starting out with a little sun but that is not expected to last.  Yesterday was beautiful except for the strong winds.  We went on a horse-drawn wagon ride at our local nature conservancy which w […]

  • Today’s temperatures will continue much above normal and there is no snow to be found anywhere.  We were supposed to go on a sleigh ride today at the Nature Conservatory this afternoon, and I guess that will […]

  • This weather is crazy with below normal temps for a few days, then above normal following.  It can’t seem to make up its mind.  We are scheduled to go on a sleigh ride on Saturday, and of course, all the s […]

  • Once again, Mother Nature is reminding us that it is too early in the season for mild weather.  At least we have lost most of our snow, getting us ready for the next round.  There are no pending storms on t […]

  • This morning was quite mild with the temp round 40.  Since then the temperature has been falling and is now  at the freezing point.  We had drizzle to start the day and now it is snowing.  The forecast is cal […]

  • Today is misty, damp, cloudy, and really not a nice day weather-wise.  We are under a dense fog advisory but visibility is still around 5 miles.  I’m thinking that it may get worse tonight  Temperatures are qu […]

  • Enjoyed this post, Mark. My brother was a teacher in Seattle at the time of that earthquake. Thankfully, it did little damage to his home but gave him and his students quite a scare. It’s amazing that such a strong quake did so little damage. They said that it was because it was so deep in the earth.

  • Yesterday was quite pleasant although a bit breezy.  The wind even felt mild compared to this past week.  We should continue to see temps that are above normal for the next 4-5 days and that will be w […]

  • The big story yesterday was the meteor on Tuesday evening.  It caused a very large “boom” which registered as 2 on the Richter scale.  Many claimed that it shook their houses.  I saw the flash through my wi […]

  • It seems that Mother Nature turned on the snow machine and forgot to turn it off.  It has snowed now for the past 5 days . . . . . not huge amounts, just enough to keep the roads slippery.   We received an […]

  • We woke to a world of hoar frost this Sunday morning, and beautiful it is!    Along with the beauty are very cold temperatures.  At least we are expecting warmer temps for this upcoming week.  Yesterday brou […]

  • It doesn’t seem like we even lost our snow from previously but I guess it’s a good thing that we did.   We received four inches yesterday, exactly what we lost in the thaw.  We also have the frigid te […]

  • Rain, freezing rain mixed with snow this morning.  At least that’s what was predicted but that’s not what is happening.  Most of the precip that we have is snow . . . . two inches so far and still snowing at a […]
