That was an exciting weekend! A very long atmospheric river originating in Japan, set itself up over the Pacific Northwest from the middle of last week through Sunday, with the heaviest action on Saturday. The […]

What a lovely start to October! Honestly, you couldn’t ask for much more perfect weather than this. Cold nights with patchy frost in some areas, and mild sunny days in the low/mid 70s in the lowlands. The airport […]

I REALLY was hoping I wouldn’t have to write this blog, and I’m not going to put a lot of time/effort into this one. Let’s just keep it short: the heatwave for early August has gone from merely “mentionable” to […]

posted nearly 3 weeks ago, saying that it was “vacation time” for me. True to form, basically NOTHING has happened with the weather since then. July has turned into one big snooze-fest: no triple-digit temps, no […]

Given how “boringly beautiful” the weather is slated to be for the next couple weeks, I’m probably going to focus less on thinking about it and more on actually enjoying it. (At least on the days when I’m not […]

Well…The Dalles and Eastern Oregon just endured their second hot spell / heatwave of the 2017 summer season. The LATE SPRING HEATWAVE over Memorial Day Weekend doesn’t count in this case. Here in town, or at […]

Hard to believe that just two weeks ago, we were talking about 99-degree heat over Memorial Day Weekend. A deep marine layer and “June Gloom” has settled in over the Pacific Northwest. Two days ago there was snow […]
