Mostly sunny, seasonably warm and humid update for Friday, July 12 through Monday, July 15 2019 for West Rockville Maryland. Once again I could not upload any images in my blogpost, so I could not post there. So I am posting here, along with facebook and email. Anyone out there who might know what the problem is please let me know.

Well once again I got behind over the past 4 days, along with a stalled typical mid-summerlike pattern that predominated over the period with little variation. I must make a 4 day post this time into a condensed single post.

Friday, Saturday, and Monday featured mostly sunny, dry skies with high temps in the upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s. Dew points held in the mid 60s to mid 70s for the 4 day period, except for a brief minor respite on Monday when the dew point stayed below 70 and bottomed out in the upper 50s. Sunday was the hottest day during this period, with mostly sunny skies and high temps in the low 90s after a low around 70.

There was no precipitation through this 4 day period. There has been a total of 5.75 inches of rain reported for July. The year-to-date total is 28.41 inches.

My current online data (except for rainfall/snowfall – use the cocorahs link ) is showing regularly on Weather Underground. My data is posted there every 5 minutes. My ID is KMDROCKV200 and my station is called “Gardens of Traville.” Data is online, available in real-time as it is being updated on a 5 minute interval.

I contribute my precipitation data daily to CoCoRaHS as Rockville 2.8 WNW, Station ID MD-MG-115.

Please remember that my Weather Underground precipitation data reflects what is recorded automatically through the tipping bucket VP2 gauge, just as it does on WxLink 2.0. The tipping bucket has been producing erratic values every day of late so should not be used except for general precipitation timing.

I actually use the data I post to CoCoRaHS from my 4 inch CoCoRaHS gauge I read manually as my “official” precipitation total each day.

I have been cleaning out the leftovers late in the period from the first two days of barbecue chicken, broccoli cheddar rice a roni and then spaghetti and meatballs. I placed an order with a new place, Schwan’s, which came early Monday evening. It was all destined for the freezer, and in big bags and boxes. Anxious to try some new food! Watched some of the Wimbledon final on Sunday and plenty of baseball at other times and all of the days of the period. Staying inside to stay out of the heat.

We have a succession of hot, humid days ahead through the weekend, with a temporary one day semi-break on Thursday from showers/storms from the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry. High temps should be around 90, with lows in the low-mid 70s

High temperatures otherwise (today through Sunday except for Thursday) should be in the mid-upper 90s with heat indexes well above 100 on most days, with low temps in the muggy, uncomfortable mid-upper 70s. Scattered thunderstorms (mostly a 40 POP) can’t be ruled out on most days due to the tremendous day-time heating and existing high levels of moisture, partially being brought in from the flow associated with Barry.

Midnight Monday recorded a temperature of 77.3°, relative humidity 73%, pressure rising at 30.08 inches and the dew point temperature at 68.6° under clear skies.

Currently at 1308 the temperature is 91.1° under partly sunny skies (mostly building fair-weather cumulus plus some scattered altostratus, relative humidity at 58%, barometric pressure steady at 30.08 inches, and the dew point
    temperature at a muggy 74°.

Good afternoon from the walrus on this mostly sunny Tuesday. Once again I am having problems uploading the featured image for today. To post on my blog, I have to include a featured image. Since I can’t, I will post the text of today’s post in the activity feed. I may have to wipe out any links I have embedded in this post and only provide a facebook link later which may or may not work. I wish I knew what is wrong – tomorrow it probably will work fine.
