Great to know and thanks for the clarification! I had a few drops on my windshield over a couple of days. I reported them as Zero but mentioned the drops. From now on, I’ll officially report them as a trace. I wasn’t sure if that little bit of rain counted or not, so I erred on the side of caution. Great to know I can report those as a trace!

Welcome to another Weekly Wrap Up! This week was mostly clear (a few drops or rain off and on but not enough to even register as a trace) with cooler temperatures overall and less humid. Here’s a look at […]

Nathan, One drop of rain is registered as a trace of rain. So what you stated is not true. A problem with many of the automated station rain gauges is that they don’t register trace amounts. The official cocorahs gauge, being a manually read gauge, will register trace amounts, though admittedly just a few drops may not register there either. But if you have other indications, like drops on your windshield, you actualy observe the drops when they are falling, etc then you still register that as an official trace amount. With weather station software generated climate summaries, these trace amounts don’t show up unless you can manually edit them into the record. Thanks for the great report!
